Wilderness Works and NOLS
Wilderness Works is honored by the mention in NOLS Alumni Magazine, “The Leader” this month.
Since 1965 NOLS (formerly, National Outdoor Leadership School) has blazed trails in the lives of more than 280,000 students. Teaching outdoor skills, environmental ethics and wilderness medicine has been the mission of NOLS since its inception.
Wilderness Works leaders were first attracted to NOLS because of their solid commitment to achieving inclusivity and diversity in NOLS course work, classes and alumni. In 2019, NOLS selected Wilderness Works as a partner agency for their generous Gateway Scholars Program.
Wilderness Works is now encouraging candidates to apply for available scholarships for these life changing courses. In 2019, Wilderness Works sent four black high school students, including Brandon Quintero, (mentioned in The Leader article) for a 30 day trek in Wyoming’s Wind River Range. This much needed partnership is already transforming lives!
